A haven for musicians and fans, Tanglewood season moves online
BSO, Tanglewood 2020 Online Festival now streaming … in your living room
Tanglewood hosted its first classical concert in 1937, housed under a tent that rattled so loudly from rain that pieces had to be cut from its second weekend of performances. Today, the expansive campus in Lenox hosts orchestral performances, popular artists and a cohort of young musicians in three music halls and several other venues. Although all in-person music has been cancelled this summer, the BSO is hosting an online festival.
The Tanglewood 2020 Online Festival is streaming archived performances online, free. Additional content, including new programs from BSO musicians and Tanglewood Learning Institute video streams – new and retrospective, will be available for purchase for $5 to $12 for a single stream, with multiple stream packages ranging from $15 to $90.
And while you won’t be able to enjoy a Tanglewood picnic on the lawn while listening to the BSO live, you can still enjoy the Tanglewood campus during select hours on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Advanced registration is required.
